Tampa locals just got another reason to love flying from TPA, especially if you’re considering domestic direct flights from Tampa for your next trip.
Flight deal service Going released its 2026 Top Airports and Airlines for Flight Deals report, and Tampa International Airport (TPA) landed at No. 8 in the nation for domestic flight deals, with an average Going deal price of $216 roundtrip.
If you fly from TPA regularly, you already know Tampa airport love runs deep — and it’s not just about flight deals. TPA is consistently ranked one of the easiest, most stress-free airports in the country — short walks from curb to gate, minimal security lines, and plenty of local-favorite food choices, no matter which gate you’re flying out of.
And of course, any trip to the airport means a chance to say hi to Phoebe, TPA’s 21-foot pink flamingo sculpture on Level 3 of the Main Terminal, who’s become as much a part of flying through Tampa as grabbing a Cuban sandwich on the way to the gate.
Add in a strong lineup of nonstop routes and steady flow of flight deals, and it’s easy to see why TPA has quietly become one of the easiest airports in Florida to score a good fare and a direct flight to a desirable destination.

How Going Ranks Airport Flight Deals
I like Going’s Top Airports and Airlines for Flight Deals report because it’s not just based on random “here’s a cheap flight we found once” data. Going analyzed more than 45,000 routes between July 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026, pulling from thousands of deals sent to its members across 200+ US airports and 500+ destinations.
Going scored airports using a weighted formula: average price (30%), average deal savings on full-service airlines (35%), and deal volume (35%) — meaning how often good deals actually show up. They also grouped airports by FAA enplanement data into hub-size categories, so Tampa (a large hub) is being measured against airports of a similar size, not tiny regional strips.
“A single cheap fare doesn’t tell the whole story,” said Willis Orlando, a flight expert at Going. “We built these rankings around what actually matters to travelers: not just the price of the ticket, but how deep the discount is and how often a good deal comes around. An airport that has one amazing fare a year isn’t as valuable to travelers as one that delivers solid deals every week.”
That’s the part that matters most for Tampa Bay family travelers — this isn’t about one lucky fare. It’s about a steady drumbeat of deals throughout the year, which is exactly what makes planning a family trip from Tampa on a budget realistic instead of a guessing game.

The Best Direct Flight Routes Out of TPA in 2026
TPA scores well on the Going list for its domestic flight deals on full-service U.S. carriers, but it’s worth noting that international options for nonstop flights from Tampa are growing significantly in 2026. That growth is particularly focused around routes to sought-after destinations in the Caribbean on budget airlines (which weren’t even included in Going’s deal rankings in order to allow for a direct comparison among legacy and full-service airlines).
I’ve had my eye on low-cost carrier Breeze Airways, which is adding several new direct flights from Tampa in 2026.
Breeze Airways has a new direct flight from Tampa to Nassau, Bahamas
Breeze Airways launched nonstop TPA-to-Nassau service in June 2026 — the first nonstop jet service between Tampa and the Bahamian capital in 20 years. Flights run a couple of times a week and the flight time is barely over an hour, making it one of the easiest international getaways for a long weekend from Tampa. Round-trip fares on this route run around $300 for fall 2026.
Fly direct from Tampa to Zurich, Switzerland
Yes, you can fly nonstop from Tampa straight into the Alps — our family took this flight for a trip across Europe in summer 2025. Edelweiss Air — Swiss International Air Lines’ leisure carrier — operates nonstop flights between TPA and Zurich multiple times per week on wide-body aircraft, no connection through New York or Miami required. It’s about a nine-hour flight, and while fares to Europe run higher than domestic hops, this route consistently shows up as one of Tampa’s best-value international deals given how rare direct US-to-Switzerland service is outside the major coastal hubs.
Other popular nonstop Europe flights from Tampa: London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt
TPA’s international lineup already runs deeper than a lot of travelers realize, too. British Airways and Virgin Atlantic fly nonstop from Tampa to London, Delta operates a seasonal nonstop flight from Tampa to Amsterdam, and Discover Airlines (Lufthansa) offers a nonstop flight from Tampa to Frankfurt, Germany.
Flying direct to Puerto Rico from Tampa is easy
Closer to home, San Juan, Puerto Rico is a well-worn nonstop route served by Frontier, JetBlue, and Southwest, making it one of the easiest and most affordable ways to get to the Caribbean without a connection.
Breeze Airways is adding new nonstop flights to the Caribbean from Tampa
Breeze Airways has been aggressively expanding the Caribbean map of direct flights from Tampa, with new or upcoming nonstop service to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; San José, Costa Rica; Montego Bay, Jamaica; and St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Every new nonstop route tends to come with an introductory fare sale, so it’s worth keeping an eye on TPA’s route announcements if you’re the type who books trips around a good deal.
You can take a direct flight from Tampa to the West Coast
Whether you want to explore California, Oregon, or Washington, TPA has you covered with nonstop flights to Los Angeles, Portland, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, and more. The most budget-friendly nonstop West Coast flights from Tampa are offered by Alaska Airlines, which regularly runs sales. My family took a direct flight from Tampa to Seattle on Alaska Airlines to catch an Alaska cruise on Holland America Line in summer 2026.
Tips for Actually Catching a Tampa Flight Deal
Knowing TPA is a strong airport for deals is only half the battle — here’s how to actually catch them:
- Set fare alerts. Deals on popular routes like Zurich, Nassau, San Juan, or Seattle can disappear within hours.
- Use Going for fare alerts. Formerly Scott’s Cheap Flights, Going is a flight deal service that tracks fares and sends members alerts on exceptional deals from their home airport (every deal is 30-90% off typical prices).
- Watch for new-route sales. New nonstop announcements (like Nassau this summer) almost always come with intro pricing for the first few months.
- Fly midweek when you can. Tuesday and Wednesday departures tend to price lower across most TPA routes, domestic and international alike.
- Book close-in for domestic, further out for international. Domestic deals from TPA often show up 2-8 weeks out; international routes like Zurich are usually cheapest booked 2+ months ahead.
