Cheers to your momcation at Florida’s oldest bar, the Palace Saloon, or the Principal’s Office Bar inside Amelia Island’s first schoolhouse built in 1886. Enjoy freshly-caught seafood in downtown Fernandina Beach, considered the birthplace of the modern shrimping industry in Florida.

Where to Stay for a Fort Lauderdale Girls’ Trip: Hyatt Centric Las Olas

Disclosure: I received a hosted stay at Hyatt Centric Las Olas. All opinions expressed are my own.

A stay at modern, nautically-inspired Hyatt Centric Las Olas will make you feel like you’re living the exclusive Las Olas lifestyle during your Fort Lauderdale girls’ trip. The boutique hotel even has its own swanky speakeasy that has a waiting list for reservations. You can also toast to your Florida momcation with drinks by the rooftop pool or get a mini bottle of Champagne from the Laurent-Perrier vending machine in the lobby.

For breakfast, sip coffee on the terrace overlooking Las Olas Boulevard and enjoy South Florida-inspired dishes like Cuban ropa veija with poached eggs and guava pastelito pancakes. The hotel’s Harborwood Urban Kitchen & Bar delights guests with its flavorful modern American cuisine with global flair.

With a daily destination fee ($22 plus tax) applied to your stay, Hyatt Centric Las Olas provides perks including discounted entry to NSU Art Museum, a house Tesla car service, beach cruiser bike rentals, and beach chairs, towels and an umbrella.

Southwest Florida Girls Trip: Gasparilla Island (Boca Grande)

Looking to get away to a hidden gem Florida island for your momcation? A barrier island located between Sarasota and Fort Myers on the southwest Florida Gulf Coast, Gasparilla Island is Old Florida perfection.

Start your Gasparilla Island girls’ trip by crossing the toll bridge onto the island and then park your car for the rest of your stay. Golf carts and bikes are the best way to get around Gasparilla Island and its historic village of Boca Grande. The island’s scenic bike trails end at Gasparilla Island State Park, home to the oldest structure on the island – the quaint Port Boca Grande Lighthouse.

A taller, skeleton-style tower, Gasparilla Island Lighthouse, overlooks Boca Grande’s public beach north of the state park. The lighthouse is surrounded by a butterfly garden and walking trails.

Soak up the Florida sun on the quiet beach and search for seashells and fossilized shark teeth. Have dinner at The Pink Elephant on the Boca Grande Bayou and then head back to beach to watch the sunset glow over the Gulf of Mexico.

Where to Stay for a Gasparilla Island Girls’ Trip: The Gasparilla Inn & Club

A classic Old Florida retreat, The Gasparilla Inn & Club has been hosting Gasparilla Island getaways since 1913. The inn invites you to enjoy “Florida as it was meant to be” with charming accommodations and a variety of relaxing island activities. Unwind at the resort’s beach club, visit the spa, play croquet and tennis, rent kayaks or paddleboards, and bask in the low-key island momcation vibes.

Tampa Bay Florida Momcation: Downtown St. Petersburg

Downtown St. Petersburg Florida Girls Trip Destination

Rich in Instagrammable brunch spots, art experiences, botanical gardens and dreamy waterfront views, downtown St. Petersburg, Florida is an ideal spot for a Tampa Bay girls’ trip.

As a Tampa Bay area local, a perfect St. Petersburg momcation for me would start with brunch at The Library, a beautiful restaurant inspired by the stunning George Peabody Library. After brunch I’d stroll through Sunken Gardens, a more than 100-year-old tropical oasis in the middle of downtown St. Pete.

To admire more of the area’s beauty, I’d head to downtown St. Petersburg’s waterfront parks where palms, banyans and a magnificent flowering bombax tree frame the view of the modern St. Pete Pier perched over the waters of Tampa Bay.

With beauty enhanced by its artistic culture, St. Petersburg is a perfect Florida girls’ trip destination for art lovers. Named a small U.S. city with a big-time art scene by Conde Nast Traveler in 2022, St. Petersburg stands out with several world-class art museums, more than 600 street murals,  and large-scale public art along the waterfront at the pier.

Dive into surrealism at the acclaimed Dalí Museum, admire incredible glass art at the Chihuly Collection or take a guided mural tour on electric bikes. For a more hands-on, playful art experience, explore Fairgrounds St. Pete, a whimsical Florida-inspired immersive art adventure.

Where to Stay for a St. Petersburg Girls’ Trip: The Vinoy

A historic 1920s Old Florida hotel on the downtown St. Petersburg waterfront, the Vinoy Resort & Golf Club recently joined Marriott’s Autograph Collection as it unveiled extensive updates to its timeless aesthetic. With its pretty pink façade and Mediterranean Revival-style elegance, the Vinoy is dreamy momcation goals.

Lounge by the retro-chic pool or find rejuvenation at the holistic spa. Want to immerse yourself in the Old Florida resort’s historic past? Book an afternoon history tour and high tea featuring finger sandwiches, scones and sweet treats from the talented Vinoy pastry team.
